Holiday Greetings and That's a Wrap!! last modified: Saturday, December 13, 2008 (9:28:34 AM) A little holiday fun for all my RS cel-buds. (With a little help from my favorite bishie assassin boyz from Weiss Kreuz, of course!)

Now for the "That's a Wrap!" part of the weblog. A few days ago, I decided it was time to wrap up my collecting year for 2008. Pretty much everything I had outstanding was in, and I had managed to land something that ... well, I had never dreamed of owning it. Ever. It felt like a good time to end things on a high note for 2008. I debated over doing this little retrospective -- for reasons detailed in the entry text showing at the head of the section. In the end, I decided I would go ahead with it because of all the positive vibes it gives me. I love being reminded of the positive things about this hobby. The things that keep me hanging around, in spite of all the negative ick: a few good friends, some fun and funny times, and, especially, how much I love this artwork. Creating this section reminds me I have so much to be thankful for -- something that I find it's all too easy to forget during the hustle and bustle of the year. And who helped give me the will to laugh off my hurt and continue on in the hobby, even through the negativity and cel community problems I had throughout the year. I absolutely love the thought behind the "year in revue"...I actually considered it myself. That is, until I stepped back and really looked at what a compulsive buyer I am! As for the community...I know it can be a little tough. Hell, I''m going through a patch right now! But for the most part, I''m usually able to step back and laugh at the really big freaks! And if you ever need a good laugh, just drop me a line!
I can''t believe I didn''t notice when you added that Serge cel >_<. I remember when it was auctioned, I thought about it and decided to skip it(regretably). No worries though, I''m just glad it''s in another Serge heavy gallery for me to visit :). I never considered having a year in revue myself but I''m interested in ones other people make(strange as it may sound). Anyway, thanks for making and showing that card. Nicely done. I really needed that laugh ^_^.

Distancing myself from most things has helped me learn to stand back and laugh. That''s been a good thing. I was soooo excited to get him, and I just love the cel. I''m glad you liked the Christmas card, too. Thanks so much for your support and kindness! *hugs*
Heh. You''re quicker to wrap than I am. (But then I''m always feeling I''m entitled to my "Christmas" and "Birthday" gifts to myself.) Congrats on a very high quality and consistent year, one that''s worth looking back on and feeling good about. Even if the economy is going sour and the dollar looking worse and worse vs. the yen, there''s still more than enough affordable joy out there to make this the best of hobbies.
Thanks, Sensei! =) Overall, I feel like it was a good year. And a fun year, which is even more important. I agree -- even with the economy turning sour and the dollar/yen ratio tanking, it''s still possible to add things here and there. Although, admittedly, not with the giddy abandon I''ve experienced in past years. *laughs* I did wrap a bit early this year, but the Weiss harmony cels were my Christmas present to myself. Which kind of made it a good stopping point for the year. Thanks, as always, for the kind comments and for the continued support. =)
