To the End of the World ...
last modified: Sunday, August 24, 2008 (12:04:19 AM)
And back again.

Well, not really the "end" of the world, but I did manage to sneak in a small get-away to San Francisco recently. I've always wanted to visit that city, and when my hubster had a meeting there, it seemed like the perfect time. My parents came up to stay with our daughter, which meant I got to have an actual "all grownups" vacation for the first time in ... well, a long time.

Although it was a rather quick and busy trip -- and I was sick the whole time (argh!)-- it turned out to be a lot of fun. We managed to work in a bit of sightseeing and a few fun activities, while figuring out a lot of things we would love to do on a return trip one of these days.

I have to admit, though, it's great to be home. Vacations are fun and great, especially when they manage to be relaxing, like this one was. But one of the nicest things about vacationing, I think, is coming home to all my familiar things. It might be cluttered and lacking in closet and storage space, but home is where the heart is. ♥

Here's a linky-loo to some of my vacation pics, in case anyone is interested in taking a peek.

Welcome home from vaca! ^.^ Those are some fabulous pics! It''s been years since I''ve been to San Fran. It''s nice to see it''s still standing after your visit. :P

Those photos are great. I''m glad you got to see the fog rolling in over the hills and the Golden Gate - its one of the coolest things I''ve ever seen in my life and my absolutly favorite thing about San Fran!

Some really nice shots as always, Tex! ^__^
Yeah, the trips are great, but "there''s no place like home". ~_^
Sorry you were sick!!!! That takes a bite out of your fun. But glad to hear you enjoyed it anyway!

Thanks, guys! *hugs* The vacation was fun, and, yep -- I think San Fran didn''t have too much trouble surviving me. I''m pretty low on the "natural disaster scale". (=P hee!!) I''m glad you enjoyed the pictures, and thank you so much for taking the time to look at them. And, Perv-chan -- thanks for the comments!! I''ll be sending replies later, when I get a chance. I can hear people calling me from downstairs, even as I type this. (And here I thought I was being quiet enough to get some "stealth computing" in. Argh! >.O)

Getting away for a mini-vacation is always a good thing -- I''m glad you had a wonderful time. I just got back from Atlantic City, and you''re absolutely right: coming back home is the best feeling. :)

*laughs* I can''t remember the last time I went anywhere as a real vacation, itI always for work. Wait. . . that''s not really funny at all. :P

I take it you were nowhere near downtown SF then. Heh. Soon as I''m done here I''ll go into my other browser so I can look at your pics (DA does not like old IE5 *lol*). XD

Very nice photos -- I think I like the "Seacoast 2" (the one with the waves lapping against the rocks) best. I was in SF for a few precious days in the early 90s, when I was able to stay with a colleague in Tiburon (just across the bay from SF). While my time in the city was mostly research (on the early history of the Church of Satan) I was able to spend some free time with my friend doing some hiking in Marin County. A beautiful area and certainly mind-altering without need for chemical aids. Welcome back to the equally wacky beltway area!

Thanks, Crystal and Sensei!! Let''s see ... I don''t think we were near downtown SF. Although, you know how "directionally-challenged" I am. It''s a wonder I ever find my way home, I tell ''ya!

Sensei, your hiking trip sounds like it was wonderful, and led to some great memories. SF is definitely one of those cities where I would love to live -- but I can''t afford it. Thanks for the kind words on the pics, and for taking the time to look at them, too. Heh, and you''re so right -- the Beltway has its own sort of wacky vibe! =P
