The One That Got Away

Dear Dream Cel:

I watched you for so long. Every day, sometimes two, three times, I would come to the dealers site and look at you. Imagine how I would frame you, how you would be the jewel of my collection, a beautiful cel of a character I absolutely LOVE. In the short time since I started collecting cels, I knew you would be special to me.

The dealer's site said, no lay-a-ways, no deposits, no holds. To be honest, dear cel, you were on the expensive side, and more than I could afford within my normal budget. So I saved, but mostly I was waiting on an annual windfall that would occur in a couple of weeks. You had been there so long, I thought that you would be there until the time came for me to bring you "home". Even though I wondered if others coveted you, I though, no, it's fine... it will be mine.

Perhaps a wiser person would have remained detached. Wouldn't have cared so much, have taken it so personally. But to me, this hobby, so expensive and requiring so much dedication to stay on top of everything, requires that there be love. At least, I hope it's love that drives people, because it certainly does me in this hobby.

So dear cel, wherever you are now... I hope you have a good home. That your new caretaker will scan you well, figure out what episode you're from, appreciate and take care of you. Even if I find another one of the same guy, you'll still be...

The one that got away.

Best Regards,

-SafetyGirl

Yeah... I'm writing a love letter to a cel. Maybe it makes the "oh no, I didn't get it!" whine more interesting. LOL A friend said it was better to get it out, so here I am. And no, I'd rather not say which cel, what series or who it was...

Well I''m sorry it got away. The hobby is sometimes like that although maybe you will be lucky and find a sequence mate or a better cel. Well I''m not saying it''s not a lost but you have more money now. If you do find where that particular cel is, if it surfaces and there''s no info on it... Why not send a message to the new owner and give them some info since you already know a lot about the cel. I''m sorry it didn''t work out for you, I was really hoping it would then I could see it in person. Cels tho sometimes come with luck and you will have goodluck soon I''m sure. Just make sure you have your ammo ready for the next round. *pats head*

It''s painfully sad to watch those much sought after items sell to another collector, but one of the great things about this hobby is that chances are good that one day you''ll get another shot at it (not always but for the most part this has been my expierience). Good luck in the future ^_~

Don''t worry - you''re neither the first, nor likely the last, person to ever become so attached to a cel on a dealer''s site.

I''m sorry that you lost it, though. But hajimenokizu is correct: unless it was an A1end, there is a great chance that you''ll find another one, perhaps for a smaller price! Searching Y!J for endless hours has taught me that patience is rewarded.

*hugs* on your loss! I''m so sorry that special cel got away. But, I''m with the others who have commented in sending lots of wishes your way that you will find a wonderful sequence mate, or, perhaps, get a second chance at this cel in the future. I know it''s not much consolation, but maybe it helps a little. ^.^

I am sorry to hear of your pain and anguish of losing a cel so dear to you. We''ve all encountered cels that tug on our heart strings, beckoning us to home them.. then experience the heartache as they''re torn from us by another. So, able to understand and relate, my thoughts are with you. If it''s fate then that cel will become available in the future and destiny will bring you two together.
I hope fate is kind to you, and that your broken heart mends.
All the best xx
